A lot of people out there purchase amazing outdoor furniture sets which is a large investment and if looked after over the winter months can last long after the warranty runs out.  Extending its life if simple, cover it up in the off season!
There are two main fabrics we use for outdoor furniture covers, Covermaster Nautex and Commander fabrics. Both have UV warranties and are relatively light weight and easy to store. Nautex is a lightweight PVC and is waterproof, whereas Commander is a solution dyed polyester and water resistant.
